The pursuit of sustainability often presents companies with difficult tradeoffs between cost and emissions. Panasonic’s ECOVC program aims to bridge this by encouraging suppliers to submit applications for design improvements which reduce emissions, resources, improve recycled resource utilization, increase utilization of renewable energy, and provide cost improvement. Salom is pleased to have been recognized with an ECOVC Encouragement Award for our 2025 submission of an improved AC Adaptor design. Our Salom Japan team accepted the award at the presentation ceremony in Japan.
Salom’s proposal improved the efficiency of the adaptor while reducing components and lowering costs. The new design provides a 2.01% improvement in CO2 emissions from increased efficiency and another 3.148% from resource reduction in addition to further cost savings. This is our team’s first time being recognized for this award from Panasonic and we are excited to be one of just 20 companies to be honored this year.
We are particularly proud of our R&D department’s efforts to increase the power supply unit’s efficiency as it aligns with our formal Carbon Reduction Plan. Our design proposal improves the charger’s lifecycle emissions as outlined in the Materials and the Usage Stages of our internal Carbon Reduction Plan. Sustainability has been a point of emphasis for Salom since embarking on our carbon reduction journey and we are pleased to see our efforts being recognized by our customers.
The path to a more sustainable world involves action and collaboration with numerous internal and external stakeholders. We are thankful to work with companies that share a commitment to reducing negative impacts on the world we all inhabit.
